heya
seeing as there's a reading and listening thread, and the fact that I've just joined an online rental thingy that lets you have loads of films quite cheap, I thought I'd start a Film / Dvd thread.
So far this week I've watched:
Bubba Ho-Tep (awesome) Muffy The Vampire Slayer (absolute rubbish) Spaced boxset disc 3 - feature length documentary (beautiful, hilarious, yet sad cos there's no more Spaced left)
I've got "City of God" and "Monster" lined up for this evening.

City of God... awesome stuff.
Monster... hmm, wasn't so fussed. Seemed a bit like a tv movie, saved only by a nice performance from Charlize.
I watched The Grudge last night. Some nice eerie scenes, but (as usual) copped out a lot at the end. The strange dream logic of Far Eastern films doesn't translate so well to US remakes, but they gave it a fair go, I suppose.
Caught Man on Fire last week. Solid stuff, very stylish.
Eagerly awaiting The Life Aquatic... Off to see Oceans 12 tomorrow but I'm not expecting too much from that.
And yes... Bubba Ho Tep is great. Apparently, there's talk of a sequel... Bubba Nosferatu ;D

Well I watched 'The Trail Of The Pink Panther' last night, and was disappointed to discover that it looks like Peter Sellers must've died during the filming, so 2/3 of it is a complete cutting room hatchet job of library footage and mock 'interviews' with the characters, all reminiscing about Clouseau's life in a remarkably "will this do?" fashion. Disappointo!

Oh, and 'Dragonball Z The Movie - Super Battle In The World' rocked my arse recently too.

If I could add my intellectual twopenneth, I watched the highbrow conjoined twins comedy 'Stuck On You' the other night and laughed like a drain, and my next film will be 'Twin Dragons', in which Jackie Chan plays both lead roles - talk about guaranteed entertainment for a fool like me

The Dogtanian theme tune had a killer middle 8. That is all. "Da-da-da, da-da-da"

Man, I really want to see that one.
In other news, I recently watched the anime classic 'Perfect Blue', which blew my tiny little mind, some more episodes of Neon Genesis - Evangelion, which also blew my tiny little stegosaurus-tail brain, and I am currently hotly anticipating the UK release of 'Steamboy', which will kick arse.
