So......I'm new in these here parts.......I'm from London and me and a bunch of my mates bought "Action Potential" after listening to "Save Yourself" on some free Rock Sound CD......
....needless to say from then on we all starting getting a little too excited about LSB, especially after seeing them support the mighty Reuben at the Mean Fiddler, where I bought "Surface Tension e.p." / a lighter / and a rather fetching T-shirt....
...so yeah, that's me and a brief history of my LSB credentials.....I've also got "Equal & Opposite" .....but I want more dammit.....so I searched Google and found a review of "Big Bang Theory" .....
....so someone tell me about it....
1) What's on it? 2) Can I buy it anywhere? 3) Are there any other demo's I can get my grubby lil mits on??
...

hey dude, welcome to the fold - as far as I know Big Bang Theory is long gone, it's basically their first self-released mini album, 6 tracks of old-school LSB goodness which sold out a good few years ago now, and which I haven't heard played live since E&O came out (acoustic session aside)
don't know if there are any copies left floating around, but if the guys don't mind then i'd be happy to send you some Mp3s.........there's also an unreleased track called Woodrow (which i bloody love) that I got on a promo thing (along with an early demo of Figures & a live track), and i've heard talk of some other lost tracks which I've not managed to prise out of them yet (Technicolour...something?)
what do you think guys, shall i share the wealth? or have u got any spares lurking?

I really liked Big Bang Theory. Especially Threes and Fours and Magnify. Was Magnify on that or an earlier release?
Somewhere I've got a demo tape from when they were called Sideswipe... I think that had an early version of Picking up the Pieces on, but I can't remember what else. I've got Picking up the Pieces on MP3 anyway somehow labeled Sideswipe.mp3 and I don't think it's the version on Big Bang Theory...

i've got the Sideswipe tape as well - classic...i thought Pick Up pieces + the other songs from that tape were transferred to Big Bang rather than rerecorded.............could be wrong tho
I did a cover of Magnify when LSB came up to Aber back in 2005....were u videoing that Oli? i know u captured some of my (undoubtably 20xthe speed of sound) set that night, any chance of a burn?

Yeah, could just be that it sounds better on the CD 'cause it's a CD.

Right - I'll try and quickly clear a few things up.
Firstly, welcome to Mr rightsidebrain. Your dedication to/obsession with the LSB cause is mightily impressive. Will you be in attendance at the Bull & Gate on Saturday?
Secondly, a brief history of our pre-Surface Tension recordings:
As Sideswipe, we recorded a four-track demo ('The Invasion E.P.') in November 2000, featuring 'Festival', 'While You Wait', 'Magnify' and 'Pick Up Pieces'.
The following summer, around the time we changed our name, we recorded four other songs - 'Quarantine', 'Typical Virtues', 'Threes and Fours' and 'Up To You' - and also re-recorded 'Magnify'. Shortly after, we started selling copies of the 8-track 'Big Bang Theory' at gigs and via 'Changes One' (online record shop). We continued to sell these for a couple of years but haven't made any copies since mid-2003.
In summer 2002, we recorded a new 3-track demo, featuring 'Fallout', 'Woodrow' and 'Tecne Courtyard'. This was never made available but, as Barry mentioned, these versions of 'Fallout' and 'Woodrow' did appear on a free cd (along with a live version of 'Typical Virtues') that was given out at a couple of gigs in (I think) early 2003. There were probably no more than 50 copies made.
And that's it. The next time we recorded was when we went to Northern Ireland to do the 'Surface Tension E.P.'.
Personally, I don't have a problem with people hearing these songs, particularly in the context of already knowing our more recent stuff. I know the other LSBers don't rate the BBT stuff very highly but I think there's a lot of good in there, although it is pretty drawn out and the vocals are a touch weak...
Anyway, it may be a while before you see any of these songs available for download, but we're certainly not going to try and stop people sharing them amongst themselves.
And Bazza, I'm pretty sure I've got your acoustic version of 'Magnify' on video somewhere. I'll try and dig it out for you.

Yo,
Wow, is that how it happened? Oli's memory kicks ass.
Feel free to share 'n share alike, and I hope you find some shits n giggles with the BBT demos. Not a big fan, myself - but then what do I know?
