Review from the Bristol gig from a blogger...
Left Side Brain @the Croft, Bristol Current mood: drained Oxygen Thief, Cars on Fire and Left Side Brain the line up for this evenings rock action. Oxygen Thief performed an excellent set as normal. Have seen him play many times now, yet I still find him to be as refreshing to watch as the first time and I always feel slightly in awe of this fantastic talent. Hard to believe that one man and one guitar can create such an unbelievable sound that is so unlike anything else around. Awesome! Cars on Fire followed the OT set with a pretty good kinda metal rock selection. Very loud and a lot of screaming vocals that I found hard to understand, largely because I was totally unfamiliar with their material. Most surprising for me was the presence of some really subtle lead melodies on some of the tracks that seemed out of place and yet fused brilliantly with the heaviness of the other instruments and vocals. Super-energetic bass player that only stopped jumping between tracks. Will definately see again sometime but will be accompanied by a set of earplugs. I was also unfamiliar with the work of Left Side Brain with the exception of 'Exit Route'. I was expecting to like them a little but with a take it or leave it type attitude so I had plans to listen to a couple of tracks before leaving in time to catch the last train home. My plans changed as soon as they started to play and I resigned myself to the fact that I would be cycling the thirty miles home. There was no way I could leave before LSB finished their set. Loud drums, driving bass, superb guitars with twin lead and excellent riffs, combined vocals and a set that so powerful that leaving was not an option. Midway through the set LSB played 'Exit Route' and as I kind of sang along I found myself regretting that I had not taken the time to familiarise myself with more of their material. This I will definately remedy before seeing again. New album 'Collider' out now and I shall be buying this asap. Exciting band and bags of talent to boot.

Shitting hell, last night was a blast. I shouted myself so hoarse that today I sound like a less posh Donald Sinden (link:http://video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=Donald+Sinden&hl=en&emb=0&aq=f#). Ta to all who attended.
