I recently found this review of our recent gig at the Croft in Bristol:
The final band of the night don't really merit much talking about. Left Side Brain was the name and wanting to be American was the game. They just used the same old tired clichés that every other Emo band uses these days, and though I don't even know what Emo is, I know that this band was it. The songs show the traits of having been put together under orders such as; I want this song to sound like Rival Schools and this bit to be At The Drive In, and maybe the break here to go all spazzy like that Hell Is For Heroes song. Predictable, boring, with an unforgivable use of American accents. The thing that saddens me most about this type of music, besides the lack of innovation and rampant plagiarism, is the way that British bands seem so obsessed with affecting American accents when they sing. The problem with this as with so many other bands is simply that they were trying so desperately hard to be something they're not, and so any hope of originality is lost. Thus in conclusion I think Left Side Brain must be a chameleon, able to change its colours to suit and it can blend into the background so easily, plus I am totally indifferent to chameleons, and this music is too bland for me to hate it rather I hate the people who do it and the sad theories behind.
