I know it may seem as if things have rather gone off the boil here at LSB Towers, but judge ye not this book by it's cover, for whilst the cover says 'LSB are sitting at home lazing around and getting wazzed', open the book and you'll find that stashed inside is a brand new copy of the Bristol Evening Post bearing the front page headline:
'LSB WORKING ARSES OFF ALL DAMN SUMMER LONG CREATING SECOND ALBUM - WRITING AND REHEARSALS TAKE PLACE OF USUAL SUMMER FUN - "No frisbee for us" - G'
Yes, you have indeed guessed correctly - album number two is hoving into view over the horizon, deadlines have been set and we are currently slap bang in the middle of a period of the most furious musical activity in the middle of which we've ever found ourselves slap bang. Social lives have been on hold for about 2 months so far, and there are at least a good couple of more months of it to go yet before we're ready to head back over to Northern Ireland to lay these babies down with the mighty Neal Calderwood. Creating massive tooth-rattling riffage and applying it deftly to super-sized tunes is a dirty old job, but goddammit someone's got to do it - and stuff me if we aren't the boys for this job.
Progress so far is good - we have a number of shiny new songs that balance tuneful musicality with total all-out sonic destruction in a package that is the Rock equivalent of getting beaten to within an inch of your life by your best mate, then getting up and thanking them for it afterwards. We are hard at work but very excited. If you enjoyed the delights of album number one, then this one will pin you to the wall. In the best way.
As we're so damn busy right now, gigs have been pretty scarce, but we can confirm that we will be emerging, blinking and coughing, into the outside world for 2 awesome gigs this summer:
Sun 17th July: Ashton Court Festival, Main Stage, 3pm. www.ashtoncourtfestival.com
Sun 7th August: Subverse @ Camden Underworld, London. www.visiblenoiseteam.com/NEWwebsite/html/subverse.php / www.theunderworldcamden.co.uk
Needless to say we'll be using these opportunities to showcase some of our new songs alongside the usual stuff, so if you want to hear what we've been up to, you know what to do. Ashton Court remains the annual highlight of our gigging year - a chance to blast out the riffs in the open air on a massive stage is always a f*cking BLAST, and this year will be no exception. Get down the front and rock the f*ck out with us. Also it'll be our first time playing Subverse at the Underworld - the daddy of all-ages shows in the coolest venue in London - we simply cannot wait to attack. Attendance guarantees you the sight of LSB attempting to pop a vein live onstage - its going to be a lot of sweaty high-volume fun, which is why you should be there.
Finally…… it's that time of year again: THE KERRANG! AWARDS. You know the deal - every year the mighty K! readership gets the chance to really have their say on what's been great and what's been sh*t about the last year in rock, and this year we want a slice of the action. Now that we've finally managed to get a little bit of coverage in the K! and Metal Hammer camps we'd like to offer ourselves as your candidates for BEST BRITISH NEWCOMER - if you've nodded your head to us on the bus, played our CD to your mates, zapped us onto your iPod, hung out on our message board, danced like a madman/mad-lady to us on tour or just plain consider yourself a fan of Left Side Brain, we would absolutely LOVE it if you could show your love by cutting out the form in this week's K! and voting for us. You'd be amazed at the difference you can make by making your opinions heard, and believe us, as a struggling little band we need as much help as we can get from you guys. We'll keep working on a sh*t-hot record for you - you drop us a quick vote - what a deal!
