We will be there, no mistakin'. As for the Bronx CD, Ryan is currently hogging it, so alas I cannot comment at this time Thanks again for the marvellous hospitality, you are indeed a true and gallant Knight Of Rock. arise, Sir Samo <anoints shoulder with guitar neck>

Nobody sure dang diddy told me nuthin' about no Bronx cd, no sirree. However, my ear flaps are currently digging:
Jimmy Eat World - Futures (skip the uber-ballad and it's a classic!) Roots Manuva - Run Come Save Me Manics - The Holy Bible
And I'm getting all gooey from the news that the next Eels album (due early 2005) will be a 36-track double album. That's a double dose of wry US alt-country melancholia!

I'll begrudgingly admit that the Eels album will probably be ace Saw the Wildhearts (again ) last night, and whilst they were superb as usual, the Cardiacs were a total revelation - anyone else seen them? If not - go see them! I thought it was only Mr Bungle who were allowed to make music like that

I first had a Cardiacs album back in about... oooh... 1993, or summat. It just sounded like a ghost train falling down a flight of stairs.
I then saw them supporting Blur at Mile End stadium in 1995... it was lashing it down so we skulked under a tarpaulin while they did more weird fairground music.
Quite frankly, I was waiting for the Boo Radleys to come on afterwards.
But they're still going (they must be in their forties now) *and* they're good? Wicked.

They were as absolutely blinding as they were also quite, quite obviously mad Took a long time to realise that they have replaced Jon Poole on bass with a slightly crabbier looking and Churchillian doppelganger, but then I was already pretty bladdered by then...

We saw the Wildhearts in London and it was John Poole on bass?

Yeah, Jon Poole is their permanent bassist these days (and what a bassist he is), but when his old band the Cardiacs were supporting they had a bassist who was bald, wearing a suit, and looked like Uncle Fester. It took about 20 minutes to realise that it wasn't actually Poole, but an impostor. It seems that they selected a replacement, shaved his head and dressed him like Poole. Strange. But then they were an exceptionally strange band to say the least

Ah, I see. I didn't make it to see any of the support bands.

Today's head tune:
The closing credits from 'Henry's Cat'. You know, when he's going up and down that ladder with the blancmange.

I watched the first 9 episodes of Dogtanian at the weekend. That's 18 renditions of the theme...
Going a bit mental..
