This week is turning into a veritable postathon. Been giving some serious eartime to the Twobythree Ep featuring Reuben, Baddies and Ghost Of A Thousand. As far as Reuben is concerned, they're a known (albeit sadly missed) entity, and they deliver in the fine style to which you should, by now, haver become accustomed. As for the rest, I have to say that both Baddies and GOAT are totally kicking my arse. Baddies (fronted my Mike ex of the mighty Engerica) offer super raucous no nonsense tunes in a fantastically (and I mean this in the best possible way) blokey style, and I reckon that 'Battleships' is the best new song i've heard all year. Woop woop indeed. GOAT bust a completely different, but equally rocking affair, coming across as a more metallic Groop Dogdrill (to these ears), although that may well be because their singer is ploughing a similar yelpy furrow of shriekage as the mighty Pete Spiby of GD fame (one of the great howlers). I'm going to have to get me some more GOAT action. New music. Much needed excitement.

I got be honest, Baddies dont really do it for me. Everytime I listen to them I cant help but think these arent a patch on Engerica (which is stupid i know). I guess I just want Engerica back. I am reguarly listening to Sucioperro's new tracks on their myspace and for me this is the best new music I have heard since Reuben INWT album. Cant wait to catch them at the Bull and Gate in November. ;D

I saw GOAT at 2000 Trees Festival - it was absolutely battering it down with rain, and their singer spent most of the set sliding around on his knees like a big kid
fun

Ah, you've got to let go! I know it hurts, but it's for the best I'll have to check out the new Suiciperro. Really dug what I heard of them before. It's always such a pleasant surprise to find another band that's going for the whole huge riffs/huge tunes angle (why doesn't everyone? Surely it's the only logical way to be a Rock band? It's the question that i've never been able to answer). I vaguely remember meeting them at the launch do for the K! album that we were on - thoroughly nice chaps, and well on their way to getting massively wazzed, I believe.

Hey G check out the track 'Mum's Bad Punk Music' they have just uploaded it, stunning.
Yeah I have never really got my head round why people dont just wanna riff. Like you say big riff big melody is the only way forward for me.
I know I need to let the Engerica thing go, gonna check out some GOAT as what I heard was pretty cool if I remember correctly.

The GOAT track that got my dander up was "Black Art Number Three", for what it's worth.

Goat this... goat that.... Can someone give a fuckin' link to their MySpazz? www.myspace.com/goat just brings up some quasi naked yank dude and searching for them in the music bit didn't get me anywhere... As for Sucio's new tracks, they are pretty darn rockin... word is they're on their 3rd remastering of the new album and fingers crossed they'll like what they hear this time... On and Baddies are alright... still love a bit of Engerica though (despite loads of Reuben fans giving them shit about the guy's American accent)... wasn't Mike from Baddies doing a solo acoustic thing as well? Called "Lonely Ole Town"??

Wow that was impressively dumb of me! Guess I'm not as down with the kids as I thought...
"Left For Dead" is darn rockin...
As for ACDC, "Rock N Roll Train" is pretty funny, I guess I should listen to the rest of the album...

I'm playing the "random album" button game on my Creative Zen Mp3 today.........so far it's given me Fear Factory "Demanufacture" (awesome techno-metal.......pisses all over Enter Shikari from a massive height)..........and, somewhat less excitingly The Jeevas (Kula Shaker mainman's "new" band about 4 years ago) "1-2-3-4"
Don't know why I bought it (think it was a quid in a 2nd hand record shop in Camden).......never cared for KS really.
Fool.
edit: Jeevas album wasn't that bad to be honest.......fairly agreeable background music, if you ever want to listen to something that won't really distract you from whatever you're doing.
Next came a Useless ID album (Israeli punk, woo!), an ep by a Somerset band called Fizzy Milk (cider infused ska punk) and I'm nearly at the end of Far "Water & Solutions".

The Living End - Roll On Great band. Great record. Musicians out there may empathise with the feeling that I sometimes get when listening to a great guitar player - "How long have I been playing? [adds up the years].... shit - i've wasted my life!". Well Chris Cheney makes me do that.

Yeah man the guy's got a great voice... it'd make a great intro..."you're listening to Skeptoid and I'm Brian Dunning [insert-heavy-rockin'-exercise-in-riffology-esque-track-here]
You think he has a funny voice, you should try Steven Novella on for size... he's got that Kermit The Frog style voice that only Americans seem capable of developing... in fact listen to him and imagine it's actually Ray Romano...
Anyways rabbling bollocks over, this week I'm mostly listening to The Melvins...
